London Marathon Tradegy
Sunday 22nd of April, hairdresser Claire Squires from Leicester collapsed whilst running the London marathon. She collapsed near the finish line and was unfortunately not able to be revived.
She was running to raise money for charity the Samaritans. Before starting the race she had raised around £400 but since her sad death over 60,000 people have donated and the total now stands at a staggering £1,250,000!
Her close friend Nicola short said “Claire is an inspiration to us all. She brought laughter and love to everyone’s life. She will be sorely missed.”
Deaths at the London marathon are very rare. Claire is the 11th runner to die since the event began in 1981.
