The Young Enterprise team from Boston High School have been incredibly successful since October 2011 in their charity competition selling clip on earphone charms.

The team of 14 willing Year 12’s formed award winning ‘Synergy’ who won first place in the county contest for Young Enterprise best business’ award.

Synergy started off their winning streak by winning the Boston Pride Youth achievers award and followed this up by winning won the Boston & S Holland Area Award and the county final which was based at RAF Cranwell. They now go on to represent the region as they are one of 5 teams in the East Midlands going forward to the Regional Finals.

In the following months, they will be competing at the Regional final which will be held in Nottingham. Then the winners of all 9 regional finals go forward to the National Finals at the Intercontinental Hotel in London 1st – 3rdJuly. Let’s hope they do well at this with winner of that going forward to the European Finals in Bucharest 18th -22nd July.

Ellie Morrisey led the team and when we interviewed them, her team mates said, “It was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience and was loads better than we thought it would be!” They added that “the highlight was working with friends to achieve something wonderful!” They would definitely “recommend it to lower years so they can hopefully have the same success as we did”.

They admitted, “We never thought we’d represent the county, let alone have a chance to win an international competition!”

Synergy Interview

Members of Synergy told us they learnt new skills for later life such as teamwork, advertising, marketing and money management. The team has also learnt how to be more mature and cope with the pressure of meeting new people to achieve what they want and hope to use the skills to get business related jobs in the future.

Business link teacher Mr Athersych told us, “They did exceptionally well and demonstrated qualities way beyond their age should be capable of. They overcame challenges and their organisation skills to meet deadlines were very impressive and I am really proud of them all.”

This was a great achievement for all the Young Enterprise teams. Synergy had such a unique product, which brought great accomplishment for them after winning. Great article girls, giving an in depth read on how Synergy really felt about winning, though shame it wasn’t a Carres article. Good luck to Synergy for the next round!
