Shaken not stirred
Last night the brand new James Bond film Skyfall came out in cinemas across the UK.
50 years ago a movie came out called James Bond, a movie about a spy with a code name…007. Sean Connery was the first Bond, making his mark with phrases such as – “Medium dry martini, lemon peel, shaken not stirred.”, “Bond… James Bond” and “Licence to kill”. The first film, Dr No, was such a hit that sequels were continuously made.
50 years later and Daniel Craig has taken the place as one of the worlds most notorious spies as 007 is still going at his best. Skyfall has taken its toll on the nation as Britain goes bonkers for Bond.
There has always been a baddie in the Bond films. In ‘Diamonds are forever’ the bad guy was the memorable Ernst Stavro Blofeld and in ‘Live and let die’ it was Yaphet Kotto. This time around James Bond has to go up against Raoul Silva (Xavier Bardem), a dangerous villain claiming a connection to Bond.
The highly anticipated film has been accompanied by the single ‘Skyfall’ sung by Adele. It is tradition to have a current and famous singer sing the Bond song for every new movie that’s released.
The James Bond film has been so popular lately that there has even been a James Bond Perfume released for sale in shops!
The James Bond frenzy first started at the Olympic games when Daniel Craig stared in a short film with the Queen, in which both of them were seen to be skydiving from a helicopter into the Olympic Arena in London.
Skyfall is going to be the first Bond film to be released in IMAX venues, and will surely give a boost to the Box Office figures.
Could this be the most popular Bond movie so far? Nesta thinks – “Yes, because Adele sang the Bond song this time around and the build up to it has been massive. I hope it will be as good as everybody is anticipating!”
