Calvin Harris Named 2012’s Top Hitmaker

Calvin Harris a Scottish singer, songwriter and producer has been named the most successful songwriter in the UK singles chart.

Calvin Harris has written songs for Rihanna, Example, Cheryl Cole, Florence Welsh and Ne-Yo. And most of them were a great success in 2012.  Not only in the UK is Harris top hitmaker but also in the US with Billboard magazine putting him in 1st position.

In second place was the Australian singer Sia Furler who had number one hits with David Guetta, Flo-Rida and Rihanna.

In third was the American band Fun. who had great success with their hit single in the UK, We are Young, hitting number 1 in the Uk charts.

Then in fourth was Swedish pair Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub who collaborated with artists such as Nicki Manaj.

Then in Fifth were the British band Coldplay who have sung with various artists including Rihanna last year.

The other ten included Sweden’s Shellback, Australian singer Gotye who was in the UK charts at number one for six weeks in a row with the hit single ‘Somebody that I used to Know’ and Psy was also in the top ten with the You Tube sensation ‘Gangnam Style’ that reached over a billion hits on You Tube.

The last two years have been a huge success and this year could be even better for Harris after being nominated for both Grammy and Brit awards.
