160,000 Nintendo Wii U’s sold since May…But this isn’t good news

160,000 Wii U’s were sold in just the last three months. That sounds a lot but this is well below the target that Nintendo set itself when the games console was released.

Only 10,000 Wii U’s were sold in Europe during that time and the console was recently removed from the shelves of retail giant Asda this month prompting gamers to wonder what the future holds for the Wii U.

Those sales bring the total sales of the Wii U console to 3,610,000, which is very short of the 5.5 million sales Nintendo expected by the end of April.

So, what does this mean for the Nintendo Wii U? Do you own a Wii U as we’d love to hear your thoughts on why this console isn’t selling well here in the UK?

I do own a Wii U, and it isn’t selling well because of the lack of decent Hardware. There are no ‘Must-Have’ Games at the moment (bar possibly Pikmin 3 and Earthbound on the Virtual Console), but with Mario Kart 8, Donkey Country Returns: Tropical Freeze, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, a New Wii U Zelda, Bayonetta 2, Wii Fit U and Wii Party U on the horizon (ALL of which are Wii U Exclusive), trust me, the Wii U is only just getting started!

I totally agree, but i honestaly think that COD: Ghosts, Bayonetta 2 Wii Party U and Samsh Bros. Wii U will attract most people. personally i like all of the but COD.

I have a Wii U but can’t understand why not many have sold. Games like Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 are only available on the Wii U console, the majority are worth buying a whole new console for.
