D1In this story, written by David Walliams,  there is a young boy named Alfie, who never ever goes to the dentist.

He befriends a girl named Gabz. Mysteriously the dentist (not the demon dentist) died so they had to replace him with Miss Root; she calls herself Mummy.

Ever since Miss Root came to town instead of getting a coin, when you put a tooth under your pillow and leave it over night, you would get something nasty like a dying cockroach or an eyeball!

Alfie’s dad used to work as a coal miner but that didn’t do any good to his chest so he’s always huffing and gasping when he speaks. So one-day Alfie’s dad hired a social worker; her name was Winnie.

Winnie booked an appointment for Alfie at the dentist (Miss Root) and obviously Alfie didn’t want to go, so there was a massive rampage through the city. After that, Winnie finally caught him and Alfie had to go to the dentist.

Once he had been to Miss Root’s dental parlour, he and Gabz did a little research; they had to use one of local newsagent Raj’s teeth as bait to catch the nasty tooth fairy. For full story read book…

I liked this story because it was a mix between horror and comedy! And I love David Walliams’ style of writing! And the characters have lots of different personalities so I can tell who is who. I would recommend this book to 10 + because some parts are quite scary and will probably give under tens nightmares.

My rating: ***** 5 out of 5!
