Ceefax Sport Challenge

The world’s very first teletext service, BBC’s Ceefax, celebrates it’s 40th birthday this week and BBC Sport approached it’s readers to construct their very own Ceefax style sport report. Between 1974-2012, Ceefax graced the screens of early morning BBC broadcasting, delivering short and sharp news pieces. With headlines restricted to 33 characters and the report itself only 80 words, a seemingly simple piece can become a Ceefax conundrum to compose.

Here is YJA’s Kobe Tong’s Ceefax style match report on this week’s Capital One Cup clash between Liverpool and Middlesborough:

This is a brilliant feature Kobe.

I grew up with Ceefax being something that was always cool to have on your television and thought it was generally quite amazing…It’s funny how technology has rapidly increased and how dated this now looks!
