Girl Discovers Leech in her Nose
Now just think what would it feel like to have a bloodsucking critter up your nose?
24-year-old Daniela Liverani discovered a 3-inch bloodsucking leech up her nose.
She was on holiday in South East Asia, back packing for a month, when she thought she had a blood clot and didn’t bother too much about it. (She’d been having nosebleeds for a while and thought it was connected with a motorbike crash she’d been involved in.)
It was only when she got back home that she noticed it was something quite different. Showering one morning, she felt a wriggling sensation in her nostril and to her horror saw she it wasn’t just a blood clot it was a living critter!
Trying to pull it out, the critter was revealed- it was a black, bloodthirsty leech!
She told the BBC: “Obviously my nasal passages would open up because of the steam and the heat and the water, and it would come out quite far, about as far as my lip. I didn’t think it was a worm because it just looked like a blood clot.
Next stop it was off to A&E where the medical team used tweezers to get the leech out. Daniela nicknamed it Mr. Curly and took it home! But, sadly, Mr. Curly died……. from not having enough blood supply.
A YJA reporter asked: ‘what would you do if you discovered someone had a leech up his or her nose?
A teacher said: “I would probably discuss it with a colleage to check they are OK, then I would call their parents to break the news.”
A pupil said: “I would feel very uncomfortable and horrified when I discovered what it was. I am really afraid of bugs, so no way would I take it home!”
A parent said: “I would be terrified and panic, not knowing what to do!”
