This year at The Meadows Primary School every single child from Years 4, 5 & 6 have got the opportunity to take part in weekly training sessions with the goal of getting skilled enough to perform in an awesome concert to parents and teachers.

Miss Clarke from the Music Service in Lincolnshire is running a series of music lessons to students at The Meadows. Year 6 students who managed to grab an interview with Miss Clarke are learning how to play a range of instruments from the flute to the saxophone and even the trombone. Year 5 are learning how to play the Ukulele and the Year 4’s are getting to grips with the African drums.

Ellie from Yr 6 told the YJA Newsroom, “I really like playing the Trombone and I like how there is the slider, on the down side it is a bit heavy and a very advanced instrument so tricky to play!”

This week Miss Clarke showed Year 6 how to read music and music notes for their instruments. The whole class learnt how to perform a Mexican song titled ‘Arriba!’ Arriba

Roving reporters from the YJA newsroom delayed the start of this weeks lesson to speak to Miss Clarke about all things music. To hear the full interview just simply click below.
