10-year-old girl allowed to shoot guns
In the United States of America the laws for holding guns are far more relaxed than here in the UK. Ten-year-old Shyanne Roberts is allowed to shoot guns and have them in her bedroom.
Her father, Dan Roberts, allows his daughter to use guns and her favourite gun colour is purple. She owns an AR-15, which is, you’ve guessed it, purple!
According to CNN, when Shyanne was five, she started to learn gun safety laws. By age six she could recite them off by heart, so her father Dan started taking her to a gun range.
In her bedroom, she now stores a total of nine guns.

On her FaceBook she says, “ I do Competition Shooting, Target Shooting, Recreational Shooting, Hunting, Fishing, Biking, Outdoors, Quading, Archery, and anything boys can do I can do better!”
Shyanne has a five-year-old brother called Conner; some people in the neighbourhood are concerned that he may follow in his sister’s footsteps. It’s no surprise that father Dan is keen that he does.
Here in the United Kingdom the use of guns is strictly controlled and it’s probably no coincidence that we have one of the lowest rates of gun crimes in the world.
