Roley’s legs are fixed!

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

rA poor little chick called Roley had to have a splint on his legs because he damaged them when he was getting out of his egg! Not the greatest of starts.

Roley’s owner, Faye noticed it two days after Roley was born, so she can be forgiven for having wobbly legs! Roley has now been fitted with a leg splint.

The plight of Roley has upset a lot of animal lovers. “Poor thing how does she walk in a splint?” a pupil from Heighington Millfield Primary Academy said.

“Poor Roley couldn’t stand up and she just kept rolling around which was quite comical but not much fun for her,” Roley’s owner Faye said.

Chicken Facts

Did you know? Hens defend their young from predators, chickens are just like human mothers who talk to their babies in the womb—a mother hen begins to teach calls to her chicks before they even hatch, chickens are able to remember and recognise over 100 individuals; they can also recognise humans, the chicken is the closest living relative to the great Tyrannosaurus-Rex.

The meat and eggs of chickens are widely eaten by people across the world. Many people who consume animal products would like to choose products from animals kept in higher welfare systems.
