Eva  came into this world at Mauthausen, a notorious Nazi death camp, on 29 April 1945. Had Eva’s mother gone into labour just 24 hours earlier, her daughter would almost certainly have been killed.

However, Eva’s arrival coincided with the collapse of the Third Reich and Hitler’s henchmen fled the camp as the US army approached.

By a sheer fluke of timing, Eva became one of the youngest known survivors of the Holocaust.
