5 THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT HORSE RIDING
If you don’t know much about horse riding and you would like to understand it more then read on!
- Is horse riding easy?
People may think that horse riding is easy but it is the most dangerous sport I have ever done. Many horse riders end up in hospital after falling off or being kicked. Now I haven’t had to be taken to hospital yet, but I do know lots of people who have.
- Horse riding isn’t a sport??
If you are one of those people reading this article and are thinking “well horse riding isn’t a sport” hopefully you will change your mind. Horse riding IS a sport, in fact, horse riding is on TV as a sport and, like any sport, it requires a lot of practicing.
After reading this so far your probably think horse riding is BORING, well of course it’s NOT. You can play games like: ‘head shoulders, knees and toes’, you can race against each other and you can even play a game called ‘Chase me Charlie’ where you start at a small jump and it gets higher each time you clear it.
- So tiring!
After lots of hours of riding your legs do begin to ache. Then when you get home all you want to do is flop on your bed or on your sofa. If you don’t believe me, I have been riding for a really long time now and I can’t run as fast or do any other sport that uses my legs as well. So there horse riding is very tiring!
- Eww, dirty work
Horses are like humans, in some ways they do the same business as we do. That means you have to clear it up, and that involves spilling your wheelbarrow that is full of horse poo. There are lots of ways you can get dirty which includes your friendly companion slobbering all over your nice clean white shirt. (If you know how horses can make you dirty then hopefully you should know not to wear anything white unless you’re going to a competition.)
I hope you now know a lot more about horse riding and don’t misunderstand how dirty, tiring, non-boring and how hard, but so enjoyable horse riding is!
