Black Friday 2015
This year’s Black Friday event is taking place on 27th November. Although some retailers have started their deals at the start of the week. It’s an annual shopping bizarre which originally started in the USA, taking place after thanksgiving, where shoppers out in their masses are searching for massive discount prices.
However UK shops have followed suit in recent years. Stores a slashing prices on the best known brands everything from electronic gizmos to home furniture. On Friday bargain hunters are predicted to spend an enormous £ 12,000 a second on the day alone, not even considering the whole of the festive season. Last year Asda was one of the main supporters of Black Friday however this year the store has announced it won’t be hosting the event due to the commotion in the aisles last year. This is a reoccurring problem in the States. Also the following Monday is Cyber Monday where online stores will be cutting their prices by up to 40% and much more.
With the growing use of the internet, most prefer bargain hunting in the comfort of their own home to the scrums and fights that break out between discount maniacs. The main companies and high street shops that will be participating in Black Friday in the UK are Argos, Apple, Amazon, House of Fraser and Debenhams among many others. More information to get your hands on the best deals can be found on various websites online. Asda however will not be joining in this year after a number of reports of scuffling and mild violence in its stores last year, Andy Clarke, President and Chief Exec of Asda told the Telegraph, “Over the last two years we’ve developed an organised, well-executed plan, but this year customers have told us loud and clear that they don’t want to be held hostage to a day or two of sales.”
Black Friday is now the biggest festive frenzy of the year. Many people will be taking advantage of these deals. Louisa from the YJA newsroom said, “I personally would rather avoid the hussle and bussle of shopping centres and order my presents online.”
How will you be spending your Christmas allowance this Friday ?
