Former Man United player and legend, Paul Scholes has described the players and Louis Van Gaal as looking bored.

Van Gaal’s side had just about managed to get into the 4th round of the FA cup via beating Sheffield United 1-0 in the 3rd round. However, they didn’t score in the first half and that is their 10th game in a row without scoring in the first 45!

Paul Scholes himself has even said: “There just seems to be an acceptance of bad performances!”

As the stats show, Man United should have just turned up at half time because their last ten performances (at home) have been 0-0 0-0 0-0 0-0 0-0 0-0 0-1 0-0 0-0 0-0!

By the time Wayne Rooney had scored a stoppage time winner from the penalty spot against Sheffield United, thousands upon thousands of fans had left the stadium in what people thought was an act of frustration. Man United didn’t manage to get a shot on target that game until the 69th minute!

The side avoided what would have been an embarrassing replay but Paul Scholes still thought that the performance wasn’t acceptable. “It just wasn’t good enough!” he complained.

Van Gaal said: “It’s easier to play defensive than attacking and in the end we got a well-deserved penalty.”

The Manchester side are 5th in the Premier League however, but they have only scored 12 goals in their last 10 games, home and away!

    All through my life, Man U have been noted for fine attacking play. Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law, Ronaldo, George Best, David Beckham, Cantona, the list of wonderful players just goes on and on.
    Even though I’m not really a Man U supporter, I’m sad to witness their current plight.

    Great article Will! I think it all boils down to the “philosophy” deployed by Van Gaal this season and his negative defensive impetus. Furthermore, they can hardly be surprised by the lack of goals this summer when they sold/loaned out four strikers and bought just one.

    Ludicrous! Keep it up Will.

    Another good article Will. I think that United were slightly flattered by beating Sheffield United with the late pen. It is really strange to see just how much Man U continue to struggle this season. I agree with Kobe in the fact that it doesn’t take a genius to work out that getting rid of 4 strikers and buying just 1 would have an impact on the team’s goal tally.

    I think Van Gaal’s days are numbered and the lack of support from the fans is not helping his current woes.
