New CBBC Logo Revealed
This week the new logo for CBBC was revealed along with a new look studio. The BBC has given both CBBC and BBC 3 logos a makeover recently and viewers have expressed fears that the logos are not clear.
Cheryl Taylor, CBBC Controller, told the Guardian newspaper the new look was a “colourful and versatile identity that is box fresh and fit for purpose in a mercurial and constantly shifting media landscape” and a “badge of quality that our older viewers can appreciate as much as younger ones”.
The new logo is much more abstract than the previous green and black logo. It does not clearly read CBBC and many have pointed out that it is not as child friendly as the previous logo. License fee payers were worried when the BBC announced “a new digital portal for it’s children’s TV offering”, many thought that this meant that CBBC would take the take the same route as BBC 3. There have been some major changes to the BBC which is that BBC 3 has gone online and now the new style logo for CBBC, is that the next one to vanish from our telly screen?
Everyone’s favourite childhood channel has changed since 1960 when it was first launched as Children’s Television. It was a long awaited change from the old logo that had been the same for 9 years and not tinkered with since 2007. What do you think of the new children’s channel logo? Is it an improvement from the old or do you prefer the older design? Check out the new look CBBC below.
