USA’s Patrick Reed will be making an appearance in this year’s Ryder Cup team, after winning The Barclays by 1 shot.

Reed, 26, now at what should be the peak of his career, was the 4th name on the American Ryder Cup team sheet, the 4th out of 8. The others around Reed will be Dustin Johnson (who is 2nd best player in the world), Jordan Spieth (who is 3rd best player in the world), Phil Mickelson (who is the 13th best player in the world), Jimmy Walker (who is 19th best in the world), Brooks Koepka (who is 18th best in the world), Brandt Snedeker (who is 23rd best in the world) and last Zach Johnson (who is 24th best player in the world).

Although all of the American team members are in the top 25 players in the world, they do not have a good record in the previous 10 Ryder Cups. Over the decade, the American’s have only won two, allowing us to win all of the other 8. There is no surprise that the American team is strong however, they have controversially not put world number 8 Rickie Fowler to their already strong team. Let’s say that we may have been let off a little lightly on that one.

As the golfing season progresses onwards, so does the rankings with Justin Rose now proudly sitting in 10th with Danny Willet in close pursuit just behind in 11th.

We are also getting ever closer to the Ryder Cup which tees off on the 30th of September, let’s hope our team can bring home another win!
