Christmas, John Lewis – cue the advert
As we all know, John Lewis is quite famous for their very touching Christmas adverts that are released every year. This year they have done it again.
The famous department store has been releasing the tear jerkers since 2007 and this year is no different. The advert tells the story of a dedicated Dad building a trampoline in the garden, which is covered in snow, for his little girl on Christmas Eve. However, when night falls, animals start to invade the garden. Within the advert, you see two foxes come out of the bushes, climb onto the trampoline and start jumping. Then you soon see a badger joining in – and a hedgehog – and a squirrel! Yet whilst they jump, you see an adorable little boxer, stuck inside watching the animals through a window having fun on the trampoline. When the little girl wakes up on Christmas morning, she is very pleased to find a trampoline in the back garden – she is so excited she starts running towards it! Cue Buster the Boxer or #BustertheBoxer if you keep up to date with Twitter, for you then see the dog over-taking the little girl and diving onto the trampoline. It’s like his Christmas wish has come true.
Whilst the advert is playing, you hear the song ‘One Day I’ll fly away’ which was originally released by Randy Crawford in 1980. Personally, I think this song gives the ad a heart-warming touch. Here’s what some people had to say about the advert, “It was truly beautiful. I loved the way it represented family.” ~Mimi – Year 8.
“It was such a cute advert but I think they have done better adverts in the past. For example, the 2013 advert (the bear and the hare) was much better in my opinion.” ~Meavh – Year 9.
Let’s hope that in the future, John Lewis continues to give us such beautiful adverts. To keep up with all the latest comments and reaction to the new advert search on Twitter for #BustertheDog or #BounceBounce
