Cinderella: New Theatre Royal Lincoln
On the 5th of December at Lincoln’s New Theatre Royal, Cinderella came out as a brand new pantomime with some big names.
It has taken 66 years for Cinderella to come to our stage, and it was adapted to be a stage show by Stuart Glover. According to some of Millfield’s pupils, it definitely had that fun factor!
This much-loved story is about Cinderella meeting her Prince Charming in the forest. The Prince thought he would never see Cinderella ever again (as the prince didn’t find out Cinderella’s name) so he decided to hand out invitations to the whole village to come to a dance in his palace. Unluckily, she had two ugly sisters who didn’t want Cinderella to go and have fun at the ball and dance with the handsome prince.
The main stars were Kerry Katona (who played the Fairy Godmother) and Christopher Johnson (who played Buttons). Chris, a CBBC presenter, also is the voice of CBBC’s ‘Dennis the Menace’.
Listen to the opening night’s after-show buzz, with reactions from stars Kerry Katona and Chris Johnson plus our civic dignitaries:
A YJA member who went to see Cinderella commented, “I thought it was brilliant, and the person who played Cinderella was amazing!”
As well as all of the amazing cast and special effects, the dancing was fabulous (especially in heels!). Cinderella, played by Rebekah Lowings, was outstanding. However, Cinderella’s sisters were not only bullies but rude and ugly too!
Highly recommended and a great show for all the family.
