Hi, I’m Will from Heighington Millfield Primary Academy, I am a keen journalist and sports fan, that is why I’m re-launching my sport-based series of articles called IMO (standing for ‘in my opinion’). I will add to this series once a month, so you can always look forward to some new sports articles arriving at the YJA website!

Everyone loves a fairy tale and the FA Cup is full of them. Minnows, Lincoln City and Sutton United have provided just that by beating their much higher Championship opponents in what can only be described as a thrilling 4th round.

In my opinion, the reason both teams have got through is due to their passion and desire.

For what are described as ‘non-league sides’, Lincoln and Sutton have stunned all of England as they have completed what some would call the impossible.

In my opinion, neither of their Championship opponents looked like they were in the game. Throughout the two ties, these two ‘non-league sides’ showed their true colours and thoroughly deserve their passage into the 5th round.

Supporters of Lincoln City will struggle to recall a better display from the Imps. Some fans are saying that the victory over in-form Brighton and Hove Albion is their best since 1976 when the mighty Graham Taylor managed the club.

Both Sutton and Lincoln demonstrated superior desire and passion. Spurred on by the roar of the crowd and the atmosphere that only the FA Cup generates, the Lincoln and Sutton players just kept going until the final whistle. The passion from these two lower league sides was untouchable.

Despite Lincoln being in good form in the league (they are perched on the top of the table) they never let that get to their heads. Throughout the cup run, they have been very aware that one little slip could prove costly and exit them from the competition.

Many, no doubt, would love to see them draw each other in the 5th round, to guarantee one will progress to the last 8 and keep the fairy tale going,

Yes, it would be great to see these two passionate teams go up against each other. However, for the minnows, a tie against likes of Chelsea and Manchester United will, in all probability, be the pinnacle of their players’ careers.

Personally, as a committed Lincoln City fan, the last thing that I want is to play Sutton. They are quickly finding form again and are certain to prove formidable opponents.
