Will the Suicide Squad reassemble?
Suicide Squad, the Oscar-winning comic book movie, is getting a sequel! Understandably, this is a big priority for Warner Bros. But until they can move ahead, like any other film, they need to have a story in place. Showbiz gossip suggests they are already on top of that with Adam Cozad tipped to write the film’s script.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cozad, who is known for writing last summer’s The Legend of Tarzan, is seriously thinking about directing the sequel.
Even though Tarzan didn’t meet expectations at the box office ($356 million worldwide), it’s obvious that Warner Bros enjoy a good relationship with the film writer.
While the critics haven’t been kind to Suicide Squad, it broke August box office records, taking nearly $300m after just one weekend!
It’s safe to say that the majority of performers from the first film will rejoin the Suicide Squad 2 cast, even after the less than favourable reviews.
Moviepilot.com speculate that, out of the core group, the only star that could potentially drop out is Jared Leto, who played the Joker, but this is all guesswork right now.
The film sequel is likely to hit our screens in 2019 – at the earliest.
