Will Gotham City Sirens hit the screens in 2018?
Despite the fact that Suicide Squad was considered a letdown by most people, it’s hard to lay the entire fault on the film’s director (David Ayer).
The film was a victim of a substantial amount of studio meddling and though the direction wasn’t perfect, Ayer was far from the biggest problem with Task Force X’s first outing on the big screen. Because of this, we’re definitely excited to see what’s been decided for the upcoming film Gotham City Sirens.
Aside from the fact that Margot Robbie will re-play her role as Harley Quinn, we know very little about the film so far. Catwoman and Poison Ivy are both rumoured and expected to show up, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet by the studio and there’s been no hints about which direction the film will head in, or if the film will be inspired by the original comic.
It has been rumoured that the film is DC’s second choice for their second film in 2018. Currently, Aquaman is set to be released that year, and nothing else has been named. The Batman was supposed to arrive next year too but that has now been pushed back, something else needs to take its place and apparently, this film may be it. Especially if filming starts this summer, which is said to be the plan.
In terms of casting, the leak says that the role of Catwoman and Poison Ivy are still open but the studio has their eye on certain actresses. They do however think that Joel Edgerton is their top choice for Black Mask (the villain of the film). Though no one has received any confirmation that Black Mask will be in the film, it’s looking more and more likely that he is. Not only did David Ayers tease the film’s villain but may reporters have found out that Ayers wants him in The Batman. If that’s true, it would make perfect sense for him to be in here too.
None of this has been confirmed just yet but until it is, all we can do is wait. However, if the filming of Gotham City Sirens really is starting in the summer, you can expect more spoilers being released all over the web.
