Sebastian Vettel horrific swerve into title rival Lewis Hamilton in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was like an instant red card in football- according to former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan.

But Jordan equally comments that he is unsure whether Sebastian is going to face more consequences. Also, Vettel was given a 10-second penalty for crashing his car into Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton on Sunday and Hamilton was absolutely Livid with Vettel.

“It’s equivalent to a massive head but in football,” Jordan said.

4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel was given three licence penalties for his actions, taking him to nine.

Tons of Mercedes fans (including myself) were devastated by this crash in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and think that Vettel should face a much greater punishment.

If he receives another three in the next grand prix in Austria on 7-9 July, it would trigger an automatic ban for the German in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, after Austria.

On Radio 5 Live Jordan said: “With the penalty points he received after the race, the stewards clearly had footage that the driver turned into Hamilton.

“This is never acceptable, whatever happened prior to that, you can never take the law into your own hands, certainly not in sport.

“So, Hamilton got a 10-second penalty but it was stop and go, which we say is equivalent to a 40 second stop.”

Vettel finished fourth, a place ahead of Hamilton, to extended his championship lead to 14 points.
