The Frenchman, Alexandre Lacazette joined Arsenal on July the 5th for a club record signing. His price tag was £46.5m.

The 26-year-old was signed from Lyon, a French League team. He scored a total of 100 goals and made 203 appearances for his ex-club. He arrives at Arsenal with a five-year contract deal.

An emotional Lacazette said, “Throughout my childhood and thanks to Arsenal’s former striker Thierry Henry and other French players, I always dreamed of playing for this club so that dream has been fulfilled.

“I like clubs with a history and the fact that the manager has been here for a while shows that it is a stable club. There are quite a few French players at the club which will make it easy to settle in.”

Mesut Ozil was originally the Arsenal club record signing when he signed in 2013 for £42.4m.

In the 2016/17 French League season, Lacazette was the second-highest goal scorer, grabbing 28 goals with Lyon. (Edinson Cavani was the highest goal scorer bagging 35 goals.)

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager, confessed, “We are very happy to have Alexandre join our group. He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher.

“He has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character. So he is a guy who is a great addition for us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level this season.”

This signing could help Arsenal win a trophy.

Brilliant article Keane (despite it being about Arsenal!) I think this transfer could go two ways. He could either boost the squad in order for them too come close to the Premier League title, or it could hinder them as he is what is known now as the big dog of the club as he is worth the most money.
