Town’s Christmas Lights Set To Thrill Youngsters
On November 30th, the Skegness Scouts, Cubs and Beavers will attend the Skegness Christmas light switch-on.
Joining the ‘be prepared’ gang will be the Brownies, Rainbows and Guides. Also, there will be the Skegness Dancing Group and several more associations.
And after a long hard day at the grotto, jolly old Saint Nick can be expected to appear on the podium, along with characters from the town’s panto, which this year is Aladdin.
A band usually attends and plays the top Christmas hits, including the perennial favourites such as Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, Jingle Bells, Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer and many, many others.
A few years ago, locals were delighted to see the ITV GMB crew arrive to interview some of the kids who gave up their night for this Christmas festival.
Local residents are always encouraged to join in the singing of seasonal songs and enjoy the ‘snow’ descending on us them from above. One said, “For years the light switch on has been a hit with the crowds and has managed to pull in roughly three thousand people a year. It really is amazing what the organisers can do when they put their mind to it.”
The light switch on never fails to impress crowds and is always a treat for those who take time out of their daily routines for this festival of fun.
A Year 6 boy, already looking forward to the event, said, “I will be coming in with the Scouts for an evening of singing, dancing, fun and games. It is always a crowd pleaser and a treat for all.”
