Spring Fair is Huge Success
Imagine a place when you can find all of the homewards, gifts and ideas imaginable. Well that was the reality when earlier this month over 2,500 UK and international exhibitors came together for the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Spring Fair.
YJA’s Fashion Correspondent, Elvie from Burgh School, has recently returned from the Birmingham venue, where she experienced the buzz from the UK’s No.1 gift and home products trade show.
Held at the best buying time of the year, Elvie was able to witness the massive event that is designed to help businesses obtain products that hopefully will inspire and delight their customers.
Mindful of the fierce competition from on-line retailers, the organisers boast: “Seeing, touching and experiencing new products in person and meeting the people presenting them to the market are all experiences that cannot be replicated online. The show is 16 halls of wonder, full of products from aprons to xylophones! ”
One stand representative definitely agreed, saying: “The scale of the show and having all these suppliers in one place is incredible.”
The show is 16 halls of wonder, full of products from aprons to xylophones.
Elvie discovered that the event organisers, Essential Events, hires the NEC’s 20 halls and then rents the stands to companies such as Lincolnshire-based W7 – a makeup brand keen to show off its latest products.
Elvie also discovered that staff from W7 Cosmetics return to this huge event every year. They told her that they work hard to ensure they always have a fantastic stand that will attract potential buyers. This year they met interested customers not just from Europe but Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the USA!
A boss at W7 Cosmetics told YJA: “Our company has done this for over twenty years and have found it a very successful way to meet new customers from all around the world.”
Elvie said: “The Spring Fair is not just for makeup brands but most things you can buy from the high street, like homewares and fashion goods, everything you can think of really. The ordering system seemed quite simple, with items delivered to any suitable destination.
“I was astonished by how organised and clean the NEC is. The size amazed me too – it is set in grounds of 628 acres!”
The Spring Fair event certainly proved a perfect opportunity for retailers to kick-start the buying season.
