6/7

‘6 7’ is a really popular meme at the moment, which is hated and loved by lots of people around the world.

Schools have started banning it and even UK PM Kier Starmer got given detention for saying ’67’ during a recent school visit. It was awarded 2025 word of the year by dictionary.com because of the rise in popularity. Dictionary.com says the reason they chose it was because of newsworthy headlines, trends on social media and search engine results.

The meaning of ’67’ is still unknown but was originally made about a song called Doot Doot by skrilla and then made into a meme by a boy now known as the ‘67 kid’ it also got reinforced by viral tiktoks featuring a basketball player and the 67 kid.

In weeks teachers were confused about the meaning and hype that some schools decided to ban the word entirely and started putting kids in detention.

The term flooded TikTok and the app currently shows 1.1 million related videos showing just how popular the meme 67 really is. It’s a key sign of gen-alpha’s increasing involvement in internet culture. The rise of 67 has made many people wonder when will this meme end but it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon as people are still making videos that are getting millions of views.

  1. My parents don’t understand what it means and they don’t get it or understand the appeal of it. Why are people saying it? Because it’s funny? Because it’s trendy? Are they all being sheep following along with this trend? There’s also the point of it meaning absolutely nothing. Many do find it very confusing.

Also, the meme was mentioned during the performance of Macbeth that I watched. At least it was during an audience interaction. There was a vote for who was most guilty: Macbeth or Lady Macbeth? After the voting for Macbeth, they counted up the votes as 6/7. This meme really is just getting crazy.

  2. Found this article amusing. It’s crazy how something as simple as ‘67’ turned into such a huge trend. I like how you explained the way Gen Alpha can take a random meme and turn it into a global thing almost overnight. It also shows why teachers and adults get so confused they’re not used to how fast internet culture moves now. The fact that ‘67’ was even considered a word of the year says a lot about how powerful social media has become. Great write-up, it actually made me understand the whole hype better.”

  3. Well you’re right about that tho…..I don’t get the meaning either neither does my dad
But it’s still fun to use and say
    It’s just a meme
    Nothing to it….
