The issue
Technology experts suggest that Artificial Intelligence may be as harmful as beneficial for society. Since its initial popularity, there have been rising reports of deepfakes and false news.
AI is the technology that enables humans to express their thought processes in a computer system. However, everyone has been able to easily access previously secure AI and commit cybercrimes, devastating the internet.
Who and what does Artificial Intelligence affect?
Criminals masked by AI manipulate the vulnerability of easily gullible groups to spread false news on social media. By using “deepfakes,” they can affect the views of famous people and companies.
A deep fake is an edited video or photo that has recently become more accessible to the public due to the rise in popularity of AI. It can force certain people to say harmful things that can incriminate them.
False news on the internet may also change political views as a ploy to get many people to support a particular party or politician. This can raise many ethical concerns and spark outrage among the public.
Other concerns about Artificial Intelligence
If AI continues to become more intelligent, it may take over more jobs that people need, causing a dangerous impact on the economy. This has been a prevalent issue since AI was first created.
The question is, how intelligent can AI be? Can AI replace humanity? It is unlikely, but still possible.
“If you want to do a job that’s kind of like a hobby, you can do a job,” “But otherwise, AI
and the robots will provide any goods and services that you want.” -Elon Musk.
Privacy and legal issues
Users of AI websites are concerned and uncomfortable about their privacy, as their data may be used without their consent.
AI is also biased – showing little diversity in generations. AI can steal different images from the internet without permission from the original owners, causing copyright and legal issues.
One example of thievery from AI is with digital art. Many art websites specifically use AI, but social media artists notice similarities with the art styles and even blatant plagiarism without the original owner’s consent.
What can users do to protect against artificial intelligence?
To ensure AI does not trick you, you must always check for the source to confirm whether the news is true or false.
Always make sure to keep information private to avoid privacy issues and to copyright items correctly.
