The next upcoming race in the Formula One calendar will take place in the heart of Las Vegas. Fans of the sport will witness the 20 drivers racing 50 laps in the new street circuit.

According to Formula One’s own website, the circuit itself has 17 turns and it’s 6.2km in length. This differs from other street circuits as Marina Bay is 4.94km long and similarly the Circuit de Monaco is 3.337km, therefore making Las Vegas the longest of the street circuits.

It will be alongside some of the most iconic attractions in the City of Lights: Caesars Palace, the famous Las Vegas Strip, the Bellagio and the Venetian. The new circuit promises to bring exciting overtaking and action.

Unlike other races, the Las Vegas Grand Prix will take place on the Saturday at 10pm. For those watching in the UK, the race will commence at 6am GMT on Sunday the 19th of November due to the 8-hour time difference. As a result of the race taking place on Saturday, the weekend format will play out slightly different than to previous races. If you wish to keep up with this event filled weekend, you can find the broadcast times on the Sky Sports website.

Due to Las Vegas being located in the midst of the Mojave Desert, temperatures on Sunday are expected to be low. Riccardo Musconi, Mercedes Head of Trackside Performance, stated during the Akkodis F1 Race Debrief that, “Well, it’s a complete new ball game. The weather is going to play a big part in it. It is quite cold at this time of the year in Vegas, especially with the sessions happening around midnight, and the tyres we have the softest selection of tyres in Vegas. So that is adding an extra dimension to the problem”.

Will you be watching the race this weekend?
