No Lincoln Christmas Market for 2023

celebration christmas festival fun

Since 1982, Lincoln has been a merry and festive place during December with the, overly, popular Christmas market, but this year it’s cancelled.

One of the busiest times of the year is Christmas with many towns and cities holding annual events and celebrations. One of the most well known is the Lincoln Christmas market. Lincoln market is much loved for its brilliant number of stalls, participants and visitors . The market is vastly spread from areas surrounding the castle to the cathedral. In 2022 they managed to attract a record breaking crowd of 320,000 over the four day event.

Due to last year’s bustling attendance the council decided not to hold it this year from fear of overcrowding as the market normally attracted 250,000 visitors. They decided to instead use the funds for some humorous and ginormous inflatable monsters during Halloween as well as new Christmas lights across the city and an ice sculpture trail. Many will hope and use their Christmas wishes for the market to return in 2024.

  1. I wish they had come up with other solutions first such as booked timeslots to control the amount of people entering, spread the market over a couple of weekends or even 50p entry per person! But I did like the inflatable monsters!
