With over 110 million hours streamed up until 8th February, according to the Disney UK press website, it has been released that the Disney+ series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians, has been renewed for Season 2, after a greatly loved Season 1. This second season will include another epic adventure based of the second book in the series “Percy Jackson and The Sea Of Monsters”. The series was one of the top 5 season premieres of 2023, with the first episode having 26.2 million views in its first three weeks on Disney+ and Hulu. This resulted in the “Percy Jackson” books returning to the #1 spot on the New York Times Bestseller list for Middle Grade series.
Rick Riordan, author of the series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, said “I can’t wait to bring the next season of Percy Jackson to Disney+! Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We’re heading for the Sea of Monsters!”
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said “Rich in magic, wonder, adventure and heart, ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ captivate the imaginations of viewers of all ages everywhere.”
Not only were the fans and author eager for the next series, the cast was too.
Leah Sava Jeffries, who played Annabeth in the series, said “I’m really glad that you guys came on this wild, wild trip with us. I know that you guys were saying that ‘Oh, it was so short’ and stuff, but Season 2 got picked up, so we’ve got way more to come… and I’m just so, so excited. I cannot wait for you guys to see it.”

Interesting, I watched the film in half term and saw the series advertised so I will have to give this a go with my son. He loves these books!
The books have certainly become very popular in the library since the series launched.
