Ash Ketchum and Pikachu are ending their task of searching far and wide to collect all the Pokémon. They are retiring back to their homeland – the Kanto Region. But the Ketchum legacy will not be forgotten as his daughter Liko is going to try and finish what her dad started.

For 27 years Pokémon has revolved around 2 main characters (Ash Ketchum and Pickachu) and their journey to ‘catch them all.’ 8 million people watch the series daily just waiting to see if they beat their next obstacle.  The producers at Pokémon HQ have made 25 series and 24 movies altogether filled with creativity and thought behind making one of the biggest well-known franchises in the world.

The main reason why Pikachu and Ash Ketchum are not on the main cover of Pokémon anymore is because of how the creators stated that they, “Wanted to do a redo for newer generations.”

YJA attended a Pokémon club in Carres Grammar to see their point of view.

First, we spoke to a student called Rory and he said, “I am sad to see them go but curious to see how Pokémon will follow on from this point onward.”

Another student called Will said this, “It’s very sad that a Pokémon career is ending as I watched the Japanese tv shows for 8 years and it is very emotional.”

And the last student, called Austin says, “Obviously they are a big part of the Pokémon era and them leaving Is a big step to the community as they were the main 2 characters to get it all started”

So overall Pokémon will bring out a new set of series and/or films, merchandise and trading cards and will it continue to be the worldwide phenomenon it already is.
