Today was the final day of SATs.
These tests were introduced by the government between 1991 and 1995 to monitor student progress in KS1 and KS2. SATs put a lot of pressure on students and schools because the government expect to see improvements. Many children have found it difficult with so much emphasis being placed on their achievements and making sufficient progress. Now year 6 pupils will heave a sigh of relief as they finish their SATs.
But what is it all for? Do the secondary schools even need this data, or will these unfortunate students be subjected to further testing once they reach Y7?
