On the 7th of October, the world was immensely shocked as Franz Beckenbauer sadly passed, well known for winning the World Cup as a manager and a player.
Born on 11th September 1945 in Germany, Munich. He made his debut for Bayern in a Bundesliga match against FC St Paul playing LW on June 6 1964, Bayern soon became a mighty force in the Bundesliga that season winning the German Cup and European success in the 1966/67 season. In the heart of this was Franz, the club winning three league championships in a row and completing a hat trick in the European Cup.
He played 103 games for West Germany scoring 14 as a defender, winning the 1974 FIFA World Cup and the 1988 euros. For these performances, he was named European Footballer of the Year.
In his managerial career, he managed West Germany for 6 years winning the FIFA World Cup in 1990. He also took over Marseille and Bayern Munich.
Many fans who had the opportunity to watch this great man play will all agree he deserves a vital spot in the best eleven of all time. He reached such great heights
He was given the nickname “der Kaiser” translating to “the emperor” by all of those who look up to him.
