Home and Away: House’s Double Ruins The Robins

Hello, and welcome to ‘Home and Away,’ a series of features where I present to you a new experience of football. I am Ryan a student at Carre’s Grammar School in Sleaford – as well as a life-long Lincoln City fan.

In this week’s feature we will look at my experience at Home games and Lincoln City’s clash against Cheltenham. First of all, however, let’s discuss the injuries and returns to the team.

Lewis Montsma has injured his ACL after only being back for two months from a previous ACL injury, he is now out for the rest of the season. Sean Roughan was not featuring on the team sheet either today however O’Connor was straight back into our back five after missing Sheffield Wednesday due to a suspension as well as Joe Walsh being named on the bench after featuring only 13 times so far this season. All four of these players are defenders so it is a 2 in, 2 out scenario but I hope that Sean Roughan is swiftly back into the starting 11 in the near future.

In the build up to the match, there is always a lot to do in the fan village (and a lot to eat as well). I had my usual cheeseburger from the Barbell Burger van and it was very nice and I strongly recommend it.

In terms of the game today, it was a rather enjoyable watch. Unlike previous encounters against sides around and below us in the table we were able to play our passing style of football without really being penalised. I felt that there was a lot of attractive football played by the imps and there seemed to be a lot of focus on the midfield. Ben House was able to net numbers 10 and 11 for the season, breaking the deadlock just before halftime. He fired home after blocked attempts from Ted Bishop and then sealed the victory with a late goal assisted by a bright looking substitute, Mide Shodipo. An observation I have is that after looking like we can’t score any goals without a wonder strike or a header, 3 goals in 2 games have all come from inside the box and off the floor. This shows how well that issues have been addressed.

The fans were very loud(as usual) and I would hope that they are all as pleased as I am with the result. The attendance for todays game was 8178 with 213 travelling Cheltenham fans.

There have been so many positives to take from the past couple of games and I really hope that Lincoln can put up a good fight against top of the table Plymouth Argyle on Monday and you can read my reaction and views towards that game at the start of next week. I hope you all have a great Easter.
