National Saturday Club comes to Boston!

Boston College has become a part of the National Saturday Club group, to teach Art & Design to teenagers. Students attending the club will be able to discover new art styles, enjoy the ones they already like, learn about artists, explore future careers and make new friends.

Boston College is offering an art club to 13 to 16 year olds to learn about Art & Design for free! They have become the second school, after Lincoln University, to host the National Saturday Club in Lincolnshire. Although the college is only teaching Art & Design right now, there is four different subjects students across the nation can learn, which are Art & Design, Fashion & Business, Science & Engineering and even Writing & Talking.

The club began on the 8th October 2022 and will finish on the 24th June 2023. Their first project was to create a self portrait and how they perceive themselves with acrylic paints and coloured art markers. The young artists go every Saturday, 10am until 1pm.

YJA spoke with Zofia, a member of the National Saturday Club at Boston College, who told us: “I think it’s a great opportunity to spend time practicing art and making friends, outside of school.”

The National Saturday Club is a great opportunity to go for. Students can learn amazing new skills that will be helpful for the future whether it’s for school or a job. For more information about the National Saturday Club click this link: https://saturday-club.org/
