Nitazenes: Easy fun but easier death

Drugs have been sold on the street for decades but how do these drugs hurt and affect your life?

Nitazenes is the latest drug causing serious injures to people. First cases were found in 2021 when an 18-year-old girl was treated for a non-fatal overdose.

Deaths from Nitazenes in the UK is 54 and Dr Justin Varney, Director of Public Health, warned Nitazenes could lead to “a global drug problem”. The UK government plans to classify 15 new synthetic opioids as Class A drugs which means some people that that use these illegal drugs will be at risk even more to arrest.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) said 40 more cases are awaiting further testing. If these do turn a positive result as ‘an ugly drug’, the government might be tasked to set a new law about these drugs. There are a lot of symptoms like these;

  • Reduced or loss of consciousness
  • Dizziness or drowsiness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Cold or clammy skin
  • Blue or grey lips and fingernails
  • Low blood pressure or decreased heart rate.

Young people and parents can find further information about substance abuse on the government ‘Talk to FRANK’ website.
