On Wednesday 13th March 2024 MAGNA will host the national finals for the F1 in schools

The F1 for schools will see the top teams from across the nation compete for a place on the podium and a chance to be the National Champions. The event is a series of F1 in schools’ regional finals. They take place in England, Scotland and Wales from November 2023 to March 2024. The teams will come together and show off their work in designing, manufacturing and branding their miniature cars, then racing them on a 20-metre racetrack.

We asked Boston High School DT Teacher Miss Whitton, who leads our schools F1 journey about why F1 in schools is so important. She explained: “Because it gives students at Boston High School an opportunity to explore the STEM opportunity, to be able to allow them to think about careers that are involved within F1 and it allows females to have an insight as to what it entails for female engineers into F1 in schools and gives opportunity for life skills, teamwork, communication, presenting, confidence, building self-esteem…”

She also added that it helps form new relationships and make new friends with people who also have the same interests as you.

MAGNA is an experience in Rotherham, with a lot of interactive exhibits suitable for kids and adults. It is all about science and technology in four pavilions: air, earth, fire and water. The event will be held here, because the famous former steelwork will be a spectacular backdrop to the event.
