Future of the Past – Sleaford October 2026

On October 9th we visited The Hub in Sleaford where we interviewed people to discover their views, personal memories and to share in their stories of Sleaford.

These interviews were conducted as part of the Future of the Past project which aims at getting young people involved in heritage. The project is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and brings together venues across Lincolnshire, to celebrate and promote the work and collections of museums around the county. The interviews we recorded on the day will be included in the archives of Sleaford Museum, who are a partner in the Future of the Past project.

During the morning we interviewed 5 people altogether, these included some who lived in Sleaford, people from outside the area as well as staff from The Hub.

Whilst we were at The Hub we also interviewed a Polish artist called Michael Bernasiak, who was there as part of an exhibition entitled Ground Work – The Wash Estuary, a ‘series of interpretations through exhibitions, performances, writings, films, and sound works, of this extraordinary subtle region.’

Michael makes his art out of litter that he finds non locally, and he makes it into fantastic pieces of art.

Overall, it was an amazing day out in Sleaford learning a lot about the history of the town and finding out so much about the people; those who live there, who visit and what it was like back in the past.

It was a pleasure learning about Sleaford and meeting all of those people.   Make sure you listen to the interviews below
